Conserve, Protect and Connect:
Our Land, Our Wildlife and Our People
Foundation for the Endangered Species of Guatemala
We conserve the threatened species of Guatemala and their ecosystems for the well-being of humanity.
Guatemala is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, but it also presents complex conservation challenges, which is why we implement a variety of activities to protect the most threatened reptile species.
"We are convinced that biodiversity conservation and human development are complementary to each other"
FUNDESGUA works for the conservation of biodiversity and human development in Guatemala, through applied research, education and protection of wildlife ecosystems and the communities in which we work.
FUNDESGUA focuses on the conservation of the critically endangered Guatemalan beaded lizard lizard (Heloderma charlesbogerti), and the arboreal lizards of the genus Abronia, which are also critically endangered, specifically the Abronia campbelli species.
